Frequently asked questions

Useful answers to help you prepare for a team rowing experience.

Is the discovery day suitable for beginners?

Yes, the discovery day is designed as an introductory experience open to everyone, even those with no sporting experience. Its purpose is to introduce people to rowing as a team, not to select athletes. Individual participation requirements and practical arrangements are agreed with Nicolas Coassin.

Where are the experiences held?

Esprit d'Équipe Rowing is based in Lausanne and operates in French-speaking Switzerland. The specific rowing locations, lakes and any partner clubs are agreed during your discussion. The area of operation does not constitute confirmation of a venue: this must be specified in your proposal before the experience is organised.

What does bespoke team building mean?

Bespoke team building is a format tailored to the company's objectives, the number of participants and the level of cohesion sought. It is not about offering every team the same experience. The initial conversation helps clarify your expectations, before developing a proposal with Nicolas Coassin.

Who is Nicolas Coassin?

Nicolas Coassin is the founder of Esprit d'Équipe Rowing, a former member of the French national rowing team and a professional coach for over fifteen years. He began coaching in France in 2012 and in Switzerland in 2014, including with the Swiss national team, and brings his experience of teamwork into the workplace.

How long does the discovery day last?

The timings and time spent rowing are set out in your proposal. Discuss your arrangements with Nicolas Coassin before involving your employees. This conversation provides an opportunity to discuss welcoming the group, any breaks and how the discovery experience fits into your company's programme.

How is bespoke pricing determined?

Prices for bespoke team building are agreed with Nicolas Coassin. To request a relevant proposal, specify your objective, the approximate number of participants, your preferred timeframe and your company's particular expectations.

Is the regatta only for experienced teams?

Participation requirements are discussed with Nicolas Coassin according to the challenge being considered. Outline your employees’ experience, their expectations and your collective objective before choosing this format. This conversation helps distinguish an initial introduction to rowing from a regatta project and prepare a suitable proposal.

What equipment do we need to bring?

The clothing you will need and the equipment provided are discussed when preparing your experience. Ask Nicolas Coassin for practical information relevant to your format, the time of year and your group. Each employee will then know what to bring before taking part, without buying equipment based on an assumption.

What are the safety and insurance arrangements?

Nicolas Coassin explains the detailed safety, supervision and insurance arrangements during your discussion. His coaching background is no substitute for practical or contractual information. Ask about the conditions of participation, responsibilities and arrangements planned for your group before confirming a rowing-based experience.

What is the purpose of the group debrief?

The group debrief provides an opportunity to reflect on what the team has experienced and to put listening, trust, coordination and mutual support into words. It connects the shared human experience with the challenges facing the group. The precise format is detailed in the proposal, without promising automatic, lasting results for the business.

What happens in the event of bad weather?

The arrangements for adverse weather are explained during your discussion. No postponement, alternative activity or refund should be assumed. Before confirming your project, ask about the conditions applicable to your chosen period, the decision-making criteria and how your company will be informed of any changes.

How can I request a proposal for my team?

You can request a proposal by providing your professional contact details, the approximate number of participants, your preferred format, the period you have in mind and your main objective. This will help Nicolas Coassin understand your project. You can also contact him by telephone or WhatsApp to discuss it, with no response time specified at this stage.
